Companion Skills

Companion Skills are a lightweight, open format for extending AI agent capabilities with specialized knowledge and workflows. For a more in depth view, please refer to the official Agent Skills documentation.

To install DVT Companion Skills use the dvt_mcp.sh script.

Linux

$DVT_HOME/bin/dvt_mcp.sh installSkills <installation path>

Windows

%DVT_HOME%/bin/dvt_mcp.bat installSkills <installation path>

Note

The <installation path> must reference a directory recognized by the target AI agent as a valid skill location. As each agent defines its own set of supported skill directories, ensure the specified path falls within one of the locations the agent is configured to scan.

The following DVT Companion Skills are available:

dvt-mcp

Instructs agents on how to use the DVT MCP Server in an accurate and efficient manner. Contains common routines and recipes for navigating code, exploring designs, fixing compilation errors, debugging, and other common tasks.

dvt-root-cause-analysis

Instructs agents on how to identify root causes of test failures by correlating simulation logs, waveform analysis and source code in an accurate and efficient manner.

dvt-rtl-interconnect

Instructs agents on how to integrate multiple RTL sub-modules into a higher-level module by wiring up instances, connecting ports and generating the integration/glue logic.
