AMIQ EDA Releases Version 17.1 of the Design and Verification Tools Eclipse IDE

Feb 27, 2017, San Jose, California — AMIQ EDA, a pioneer in integrated development environments (IDEs) for hardware design and verification and a provider of platform-independent software tools for efficient code development and analysis, today announced new capabilities in the DVT Eclipse IDE 17.1 major release.

The DVT Eclipse IDE is a complete and powerful source code integrated development environment for the design and verification languages e, SystemVerilog, Verilog, Verilog-AMS and VHDL. It is built on the Eclipse Platform and includes IEEE standard-compliant parsers, which continuously run in the background. The tool integrates within a single window a smart code editor with a comprehensive set of features that help with code inspection, navigation, documentation, and debugging.

The key enhancements and new capabilities the DVT Eclipse IDE version 17.1 brings to its users include:

Enhanced Compilation

The e Language compiler was re-designed for enhanced semantic checking. Now it validates all identifiers and flags missing function calls, missing variables etc.

The SystemVerilog compiler was enhanced with type checking, for example function call argument type matching and mismatched operand types. The compilation time was significantly improved in order to handle projects containing over 20M lines of code.

These enhancements further reduces the number of compilation cycles required to get compilation error-free code.

New State Machine Diagrams

Verilog and VHDL state machine diagrams can now be easily generated from the source code.

The automatically generated diagrams can also be used for documentation purposes.

New Source Code Navigation Capabilities

The new Call Hierarchy View presents function call trees and the new Inspect View presents the source code context information of any element in the DVT Eclipse IDE GUI.

The new Show Constraints functionality can be used to locate all places where a variable is constraint. All search results now show the scope information of a match.

This set of new capabilities further speed up source code navigation, understanding and debugging.

New Quick Fixes and Quick Assist Proposals

To further speed-up source code development, a significant number of quick fixes and quick assist proposals were added, for example the ability to automatically fix module instantiations when the module ports change or “did you mean” assistance to fix typos.

AMIQ EDA is exhibiting at DVCon US 2017, Booth #405, Feb 27 - Mar 1, in San Jose CA and showcasing its products: DVT Eclipse IDE, DVT Debugger, Verissimo SystemVerilog Testbench Linter, and Specador Documentation Generator.
