How to Color Editor Icons and View Labels per Project in the DVT Eclipse IDE
Overview
When working on several files from multiple projects, it is hard to tell at a glance to which project each editor belongs, particularly when each project is a different revision of the same design.
This video shows you how to get distinct colors for editor tabs. The same colors, unique for each project, are used to decorate view labels thus making you always aware of the project which is currently being explored.

When working on several files from multiple projects, it is hard to tell at a glance to which project each editor belongs.
Go to Window > Preferences > DVT and check "Color editor icons and view labels per project".
Now all editors belonging to the same project have icons of the same color. The colors are also visible in the Project Explorer and in the DVT views.
By default, the text color is changed, but for more visibility, you can color the background instead, from the same preference page.
DVT maps each project to a color by hashing the project's name. By default, the same project will be assigned the same color even in different workspaces or for different users on different machines.
However, if you wish to customize the color for a project, right-click in the Project Explorer and go to Project > Change Color.
